The work "f4f" was ideated in the context of the group exhibition "giving and giving", organised by the class for installation and space. The exhibition shows works of art that have in common that they are given as gifts.
"f4f" is an interactive live ticker board displaying detailed metadata about each artist who has gifted a work as part of the group exhibition.
Driven by custom software, each artist's Instagram profile is scraped in real time and their follower count is recorded. Over time, and as the 'giving and giving' project progresses, the artists' follower counts, or 'spheres of influence', will be plotted like the price of a stock.
"f4f" is a hashtag that stands for "follow for follow", a social media practice where one user follows another, but on the premise that they will be followed back.
